Battery Wharf/Fairmont Battery Wharf

The newest section of Boston’s HarborWalk is located at Battery Wharf, a mixed used development featuring Sensing, a contemporary French restaurant, Fairmont Battery Wharf, Boston’s newest luxury waterfront hotel, private residences, and a free pocket maritime museum and 24-hour observation deck.

At Sensing, guests are treated to the contemporary French cuisine inspired by Guy Martin’s restaurant of the same name in Paris and meticulously executed by Chef de Cuisine Gerard Barbin. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, the restaurant features local New England ingredients, prepared using French techniques and infused with global flavors. Try to get one of the restaurant’s seasonal patio tables along Boston Harbor.

Fairmont Battery Wharf embraces the rich history of its neighborhood, while providing its guests with a contemporary and sophisticated retreat in one of the city’s most vibrant locations. The hotel features 150 elegantly appointed guestrooms, including Fairmont Gold, the hotel’s exclusive luxury lifestyle offering. The Lobby Living Room is open to all and provides an elegant space to relax or enjoy a cocktail or coffee while overlooking the working Coast Guard station. Be sure to visit the Rotunda Ballroom, with its glass ceiling and glass art work by noted artist Nicholas Weinstein.

Another addition to the HarborWalk this year is the new pocket maritime museum on the HarborWalk, Battery Wharf Museum, which opens to the public on 6 July 2009 as part of the Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel and Sensing Restaurant complex. Learn fascinating maritime and Coast Guard history in this free exhibition space. From the 24-hour observation deck on the second floor, enjoy breathtaking views of Boston Harbor. The well-designed Battery Wharf section of the HarborWalk features free rest rooms, interpretive signage, telescopes, and an attractive water taxi pavilion and dock for transportation all around the harbor and to the airport.
