Dorchester
Old Harbor Park
Old Harbor Park is part of the Harbor Point housing development, and is a welcoming, beautifully maintained portion of HarborWalk. Its many amenities -- benches, shelters, and lighting -- make this portion of HarborWalk one of Dorchester's finest. Old Harbor Park is well situated, with a stunning view of the downtown skyline as well as a view of the egg-shaped waste digesters on Deer Island. Interpretive signage on this portion of the HarborWalk conveys tales of fishermen and shipwrecks. A large medallion-map of Boston Harbor and the Harbor Islands is very popular with children for stone rubbings.
The West Link Project, funded by the “Back to the Beaches” Program, creates a seamless connection between Old Harbor Park and Carson Beach. The new HarborWalk segment, observation pier, park, and other amenities have made this a favorite waterfront location of many local residents.
