Charlestown

Schrafft Center

Formerly the Schrafft Candy Factory, the Schrafft Center on the shores of the Mystic River in Charlestown has been redeveloped for commercial uses. The HarborWalk provides a great vantage point to see the working port in action, including the loading and unloading of tankers and cargo ships. This is also one of the best family-friendly places in Charlestown offering many opportunities to enjoy the waterfront. Amenities on this section of the HarborWalk include benches, picnic tables, lighting, boat ramp and docking facilities, fishing pier, landscaping, gazebo, and HarborWalk and interpretive markers describing the history of the site. Ryan Playground, adjacent to the Schrafft Center and on the HarborWalk, provides multi-use playing fields that are lit for nighttime games. There is ample parking available adjacent to the HarborWalk.
