Charlestown
Take a walk along the HarborWalk in Charlestown and discover the history of Boston and its waterfront. Visitors can spend a day at the Charlestown Navy Yard, home of the USS Constitution ("Old Ironsides"), the oldest commissioned warship in the world; learn about Frederic Tudor, the "Ice King", who spearheaded the shipping and trading of ice blocks from Tudor Wharf; or explore the exhibits at Building 114, once the U.S Navy's joinery shop and now a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility.
In addition to this rich history, the Charlestown HarborWalk offers a range of parks and open spaces, from the charming City Square Park to the large, grassy Paul Revere Park -- gateway to the new Charles River Parks system. The HarborWalk in Charlestown combines these historic, recreational and natural attractions with stunning views across the Harbor, all easily accessible by a quick and enjoyable ferry ride from downtown Boston.
